Below are answers to some of the questions we hear most often.
Patient Families: Any family whose child is hospitalized or receiving treatment in a Reno-area medical facility is eligible. The House primarily serves families of patients 18 years old or younger, though we can extend this limit up to 21 years of age depending on current occupancy.
Expectant Mothers: Pregnant and high-risk mothers are welcome to stay, provided they are accompanied by an adult caretaker.
Geographic Requirement: Families must reside at least 30 miles outside of the Reno/Sparks area.
New Referrals: All initial referrals must go through your hospital Social Worker or a member of your child’s medical care team. They will submit a formal request through our secure referral portal.
Returning Families: If your family has already stayed at the House within the current calendar year, you may call us directly to submit a lodging request.
No Cost: Ronald McDonald House Northern Nevada never requires guests to pay for their stay.
Paying it Forward: Guests who wish to support future families are welcome to make a voluntary donation at any time.
Home-Cooked Meals: Yes! Our wonderful Chef provides fresh, home-cooked meals four days a week, and dedicated community volunteers generously prepare meals for the remaining days.
Breakfast: Grab-and-go items are available every morning to help you start your day.
