Step right up, all you hep cats and cool dolls. The Red Shoe Gala, “Flappers & Fedoras,” held Saturday, September 20 at the Renaissance Reno, was the bee’s knees! We’re still tappin’ our toes in our red shoes from all the razzmatazz.
The VIPs got a snazzy start with a pre-party, noshin’ on nifty bites and knockin’ back some swell drinks. Soon the joint was jumpin’ as dignitaries, sponsors, and patrons tried their luck on raffle prizes, snagged silent auction treasures, and mugged for the photobooth by Simply Photography.
The music was the real McCoy! The Retro Radio Dolls dazzled with vintage harmonies that made the room hum, and the Josh D. Reed Quintet had everyone swingin’ like it was 1929! Casino-inspired games, high-low, and the 52 Grand Prize raffle kept spirits high, and let’s not forget the three fab trips up for grabs — real swell prizes, see?
The whole shebang was emceed by the ever-charming Shelby Sheehan of KRNV News 4, and the decor highlighting Reno’s storied past gave the night a touch of nostalgia that had everyone cooing.
A big ol’ tip of the hat to our incredible committe led by Angela Vereen, and including Randi Nelson, Yvette Weiderhold, Cody Knight, Allison Anderson, Tina Uchytil, and Jackie Shelton; along with all our marvelous volunteers, including Lanea Warren and the Miss Nevada Scholarship Organization; our amazing staff; board of directors, and a whole gaggle more! You made the night the real cat’s meow.
